Unguja Ukuu
These photos were taken around the southern fishing village of Unguja Ukuu, one of the old seats of power on the island, and the access point to Uzi island, which can only be approached at low tide. The village sees few tourists and is one of the most unspoilt coastal villages, set on a sandy bay, rather than the dramatic open white beaches of the east.
Find out more in brief about the village here or if you want to read more in deep then read Mambo's piece about the "invisible village".
