Michamvi
Michamvi is an oasis between the wide open Indian Ocean and the picturesque Chwaka Bay. Lusher than the rest of the East Coast, the village appears at the bottom of an undulating road and is split into Michamvi Pingwe (oceanic) and Michamvi * (bay side). It’s a quiet and comparatively undeveloped destination where beach bungalows rub shoulders with the high-end 'palaces' offering a luxury East Coast escape. If you want to greet the sun, there's some nightlife here to keep you awake, but Michamvi is still quiet enough to offer a true tropical escape from the rat race back home.
Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is easily accessed from Michamvi village. Home to the Red Colobus and other local wildlife, the park also covers a section of coast and protected it from human traffic. Boat trips here give you the chance to explore the area with very little competition from other tourists and see marine life that is undisturbed by the masses.
